Exel Composites is looking for an Application Development Engineer to join their team in Mäntyharju.

In this key position, you will take ownership of Exel’s conductor core and other products, ensuring their development and optimization to meet evolving market and customer needs. You will be part of international Application Engineering team.

Basic information

• Location: Mäntyharju
• Remote work: Onsite 5 days per week
• Travelling: Maximum 20 days per year. No regular travel required, but occasional visits to Joensuu and other production sites may be needed.
• Permanent, full-time role

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Lead the development and optimization of conductor core and other products
• Develop and ramp-up new product line and its production processes
• Perform feasibility studies and technology fit analysis
• Provide technical support to the sales team and customers
• Perform cost and technical calculations, as well as troubleshooting
• Execute the ramp-up process for new products
• Technical documentation, product documentation, quality documentation, ERP documentation management, product approval and release to production
• Support production in their daily activities and technical problem-solving

Skills
Exel Composites is looking for strong expertise in engineering and a deep understanding in cable stranding processes, particularly for overhead transmission lines. The right person has:

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related technical field
• Experience in stranding processes, especially from production point of view
• Minimum 3 years of experience in product/production development, experience from overhead transmission lines and conductors are a plus
• Strong technical understanding (e.g. mechanical engineering, structural analysis, strength calculations), experience from composites is a plus
• Understanding conductor (or cable) designing and dimensioning is considered as a plus
• Experience of working in customer interface and industrial production
• Project management experience in product development and customer projects
• Ability to create and perform project and development plans, schedules and budgets
• Self-driven with a continuous learning mindset, particularly in composite materials and power transmission applications
• Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, in English and Finnish
• Cross cultural understanding and teamwork capability
