Kongsberg Maritime - Hypervisor Engineer

Kongsberg Maritime Finland Oy is looking for a Hypervisor Engineer to join their growing Remote Operations Solutions unit in Turku. This is an interesting opportunity to contribute to the future of groundbreaking solutions in autonomous maritime operations. The solutions you build will be a core part of Remote Operation Center (ROC); a state-of-the-art control environment that enables the remote monitoring and operation of vessels.
As a Hypervisor Engineer, you will be the subject matter expert for virtualization within the Hardware Team. Your primary focus will be on designing, implementing, and maintaining a variety of Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) environments across customer, development and laboratory projects. You'll work with technologies such as Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), and concepts like cluster architectures, multi-user platforms, and high-security infrastructures.
Basic information
- Location: Turku (Lemminkäisenkatu 32)
- Remote work: Hybrid, remote work is possible up to 2 days per week
- Travelling: Occasional travel to Norway and Sweden for customer installations and workshops
- Employment type: Full time, permanent
Key tasks and responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and maintain HCI environments for customer deliveries, internal R&D projects and test labs.
- Work with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and OS integrations (Linux and Windows) to support control room applications.
- Collaborate with various teams to design and implement deployment pipelines using tools like Terraform, Ansible, and Pulumi.
- Create technical solutions for backup and disaster recovery plans.
- Provide support to the software team on DevOps-related tasks.
- Participate in productization, creating scalable, versatile and cost-effective system concepts.
What Kongsberg Maritime is looking for
Taking initiative, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills, and being able to view needs from multiple perspectives will help you succeed in this role. The most important quality, however, is the ability to quickly learn new things.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience with HCI solutions and virtualized environments.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure architecture, including compute, storage, and networking, as well as cluster-level hardware design with emphasis on scalability, optimization, high availability, cybersecurity, and cost-efficiency.
- Fluent English skills (Finnish, Swedish or Norwegian is an advantage but not required)
What Kongsberg Maritime offers you
Kongsberg Maritime offers an excellent opportunity to work on cutting-edge virtualization solutions in a highly autonomous, hands-on environment. You'll be part of a skilled, agile team driving innovation in remote vessel operations, with a clear area of ownership and the freedom to shape solutions using your own expertise and ideas. The work spans the full lifecycle, from planning and design to building and testing, with access to real equipment and vendor setups, not just simulations. You'll operate within well-defined technical frameworks but have room to innovate, contribute actively, and make a real impact.
The position combines technical depth with strong team collaboration, work-life balance, hybrid flexibility, and a competitive compensation and benefits package. You will have the opportunity to work for a company with a strong market position in the maritime industry.
