SSAB - Operations Controller

We are looking for a skilled and proactive Operations Controller for SSAB Global Business Services (GBS), which provides centralized finance services. The Operations Controller is responsible for the overall controlling framework in GBS, with operations in Finland, Sweden and Poland. The role is located in Helsinki or Hämeenlinna, other production locations in Finland or Sweden can be considered.
You will play a key role in SSAB’s development and transformation journey. This role gives you an opportunity to oversee end-to-end processes at SSAB, propose process improvements, and make a real impact on the business. You will also have the chance to build strong networks and gain visibility throughout SSAB. This role reports to Head of GBS and is part of the GBS management team. Global Business Services is part of SSAB Group Finance organization and employs approximately 200 employees.
Role and responsibilities
Operations Controller monitors and develops metrics for operational performance and actively follows costs. Based on this, the role supports, challenges, and advises the GBS management. In the bigger picture, the role ensures that operations and services are provided in locations where it is operationally most efficient and cost-effective. Your key tasks and responsibilities include:
- Developing a controlling framework enabling GBS management to define targets for efficiency, performance improvements, and service/operations quality
- Being responsible for controlling for the GBS function in Finland, Sweden and Poland
- FTE planning and follow-up together with managers
- Designing GBS process measurements with process owners, setting targets and reports to support decision-making
- Facilitating business performance meetings
- Managing GBS service invoicing for internal customers in collaboration with service owners and managers
- Acting as ICE-coordinator for all internal controls set for GBS and supporting the organization with ICE controlling tasks
- Participating as a team member in internal Group finance reporting and developing relevant processes and systems together with Divisions
- Responsible for coordinating and instructing GBS managers in budgeting and forecasting processes as well as following up costs
- Communication and close cooperation with business stakeholders in controlling matters.
Knowledge, skills and experience
- University degree in economics, preferably accounting or industrial management
- Minimum 5 years of working experience in finance and controlling
- Background in controlling functions (IT, HR, Supply Chain) and operations is beneficial
- Fluency in English, Finnish and Swedish are an advantage
- Experience of tools such Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, SAP S/4 HANA or Database S/W are an advantage.
