Kongsberg Maritime - Documentation Lead - Thruster Systems

Kongsberg Maritime is seeking a proactive, structured, and technically oriented Documentation Lead – Thruster Systems to take ownership of all product documentation, Safe Lifting Instructions (SLI), and transport supports for the Thruster Systems business unit. This new role offers a unique opportunity to build and lead a documentation function from the ground up. As a people manager, you will lead your own team, combining a detail-oriented approach with the ability to inspire and guide them to deliver world-class, safe, and efficient solutions.
The role reports to Product Support Manager - Thruster Systems, and is anchored within the Product Support organisation. As Documentation Lead, you will work closely with global engineering, product ownership, production, logistics, and project organisations while driving harmonisation, safety, and next‑generation automation in documentation processes. This is an exciting opportunity to manage diverse projects across engineering, manufacturing, delivery, and support functions, while also coordinating global initiatives and driving continuous improvement.
Basic information
- Office location: Any Kongsberg Maritime site in the Nordics (Turku, Rauma or Kokkola in Finland, Ulsteinvik or Ålesund in Norway or Kristinehamn in Sweden).
- Hybrid-work model: Ideally 1–2 days/week on site. Flexibility for candidates located further from physical sites.
- Travelling: 10–20 travel days/year; during the first year visits to all Nordic sites are recommended.
- Employment type: Permanent, full-time role.
- Preferred start: As soon as possible.
Key activities and responsibilities
- Own Safe Loading Instructions, transport supports and documentation including manuals for Thruster products
- Lead your own team of experts and subcontractors: plan workload, quality, and releases
- Manage design of transport support and grow a reusable item library for Engineer-to-Order (EtO)
- Coordinate with HSE, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Projects, Service, and logistics partners for compliance
- Drive safety, quality, and cost
- Leverage AI tools to improve efficiency and quality in documentation
Who we are looking for
Knowledge, skills and experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering discipline.
- Experience in lifting, lashing, transport safety, and/or technical documentation.
- Strong project management skills and ability to coordinate across multiple countries.
- Excellent written English; ability to produce and evaluate high‑quality technical text.
- Experience with engineering documentation tools (e.g., Teamcenter, ERP systems).
- Advantage: experience with SLI/transport supports, safety‑critical instructions, or regulatory compliance.
- Advantage: leadership experience or motivation to lead a small team.
