M-Files is looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to strengthen its Legal team in Finland. This is a highly business-critical role with a direct impact on revenue generation, supporting sales through commercial contracts while also contributing to data privacy and broader legal matters. You will join a lean and high-impact global Legal team that works closely with Sales, Product, Information Security, and other key functions to support business growth and manage legal risk.

In this role, you will combine strong commercial acumen with hands-on execution, working closely with Sales and other stakeholders to ensure efficient, solution-oriented legal support in a fast-paced, international environment.

Objective

As a Senior Legal Counsel, your primary objective is to enable business growth by supporting sales through efficient and commercially sound contract management, while also strengthening data privacy capabilities and contributing to broader legal operations.

You will play a key role in ensuring that legal processes support business velocity, particularly during high-demand periods such as quarter-end, while also helping the legal function evolve towards a more strategic partner for the organization.

Key responsibilities and main tasks

• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements (incl. SaaS/MSAs, international sales contracts, professional services, partner/reseller, and vendor agreements)

• Act as a business partner to Sales and other stakeholders, advising on commercial risks, liabilities, and negotiation strategies to enable deal closure

• Provide hands-on support in data privacy and cybersecurity, including DPA drafting/negotiation, privacy risk assessments, and privacy-by-design practices

• Support and develop privacy operations, including incident response and best practices together with the DPO and security teams

• Handle a broad range of in-house legal matters (e.g. employment, IP/licensing, corporate governance, compliance, regulatory and AI-related topics)

• Deliver practical, business-oriented legal guidance to global teams across functions

• Improve and maintain legal templates, playbooks, and processes to increase efficiency and scalability

• Provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders and act as a trusted legal advisor

• Take ownership of legal workstreams and support multiple business functions

• Contribute to strategic initiatives that support M-Files' business goals from a legal perspective

Who we are looking for

The role requires a well-rounded legal professional who can balance operational execution with business understanding and act quickly in a dynamic environment.

Experience & Skills

• Master of Laws (LL.M.) or equivalent degree within the EU

• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience (in-house and/or law firm)

• Strong background in commercial contracts, especially SaaS and international agreements

• Solid data privacy expertise, including hands-on DPA experience

• Experience or exposure to employment and labor law matters

• Experience in international business environments

• Fluency in Finnish and English
