Lindström Oy - IT Data Engineer, M&A

Lindström is seeking a tech-savvy and proactive IT Data Engineer, M&A to join its global IT organization. In this strategically important role, the IT Data Engineer will work at the core of M&A integrations and help strengthen Lindström’s in-house capability in technical data migrations. The position is based in Kalasatama, Helsinki and requires three days per week working at the office. This is a full-time and permanent position and start date can be after holiday season. Please note that relocation services or visa sponsorship are not offered - candidates must have the right to work in the EU.
This is a hands-on role combining data migration expertise and software development capability. The role works close to data, databases and migration logic, while also developing, configuring and improving the technical tools and solutions that make successful integrations possible. A central part of the role is working with MATO, Lindström’s internally developed Java-based data migration tool, which supports reliable and repeatable data migrations into Lindström’s target systems. You will receive a thorough onboarding and strong support from the experienced external consultant who has worked with Lindström for a long time and played a key role in developing MATO system.
Your key contribution areas
This role focuses on technical data migration and integration efforts in strategic M&A cases. The IT Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing and continuously improving Lindström’s data migration tool and processes, strengthening the company’s capabilities to support global growth.
In this role, the IT Data Engineer will collaborate closely with project managers, M&A project managers, IT solution owners, technical experts, business representatives and stream leads. The role also works hand-in-hand with Lindström’s Data team, which focuses on data mapping, cleansing and quality from a business perspective, while the IT Data Engineer drives the technical migration and integration execution. External stakeholders may include representatives from acquired companies, especially during due diligence and data gap analysis phases.
Key responsibilities will include:
Leading the planning and execution of technical implementation of data migration activities between IT systems, software and applications
Executing technical data migration processes to ensure data can be loaded and imported into CRM and ABS solutions during M&A migration phases
Analyzing prepared migration objects in collaboration with the Data Lead and identifying gaps and transformation needs for source and target systems
Building and maintaining data migration solutions using available data from source systems, MATO system or systems prior to acquisition
Carrying out data extraction, pre-processing and transformation using migration tools
Supporting automated data transformations and loading processes
Mapping source system data to Lindström data models in collaboration with data product and business teams
Optimizing data-loading and processing pipelines for reliability and repeatability
Performing migration testing, validation and troubleshooting
Owning, configuring, developing and maintaining Lindström’s Java-based data migration tool MATO
Implementing incremental improvements to business rules, views and technical configurations
Developing and maintaining best-practice standards and technical protocols for data migration
Collaborating with project stakeholders, cross-functional teams and other data experts to ensure quality, consistency and timely delivery
Experience, skills and knowledge
Several years of relevant professional experience
Hands-on experience with data migration, data engineering or related technical data roles
Strong SQL skills and experience working with databases, especially PostgreSQL
Programming skills, preferably in Java but experience with Python or PostScript is considered an advantage
Experience with migration tools or the ability to configure and develop migration tools
Familiarity with API integrations, database queries and file-based message exchange
Understanding of data quality, validation protocols and data governance principles
General understanding of data, system, integration and enterprise architectures
Ability to work with development tools such as VS Code or Eclipse IDE
A relevant educational background, preferably at least a bachelor’s degree
Fluency in English, Finnish language skills are considered an advantage
In addition to technical expertise, Lindström values strong accuracy, analytical thinking and a structured problem-solving approach. The ideal candidate has a methodical, logical and delivery-focused way of working and is able to manage priorities across parallel workstreams. Excellent collaboration and communication skills are important, as success in the role depends on close cooperation between IT, data, business and project stakeholders.
A high level of integrity and understanding of data protection and compliance principles is also important, as the role involves handling sensitive business-critical data in M&A contexts. A growth mindset and willingness to continuously learn and improve will help the candidate succeed in this role.
